Spaghetti & Meatballs

Spaghetti & Meatballs
Spaghetti & Meatballs
This is a recipe passed down from my Mom to myself, and then from myself to my daughter and granddaughter. I used to make homemade meatballs with it but now use frozen Italian meatballs. Saves time and taste almost as good.

It’s a dish that’s traveled through generations, starting with my own mother, passing to me, and now enjoyed by my daughter and granddaughter. Each serving carries with it the echoes of laughter, family gatherings, and the unwavering comfort of a classic home-cooked meal.

For years, I painstakingly crafted homemade meatballs, each one a testament to my dedication to traditional cooking. The process was a labor of love, but as life’s demands increased, I realized that sometimes, shortcuts don’t mean compromising on taste. These days, I happily embrace the convenience of frozen Italian meatballs – a smart swap that preserves the heart of the recipe without sacrificing the flavor my family adores. The time saved allows me to focus on what truly matters: sharing a meal and making memories.

Serving Suggestions:

To enhance the experience, I often serve this dish alongside a crisp salad and some warm garlic bread. The salad provides a refreshing contrast to the richness of the meatballs and sauce, while the garlic bread adds another layer of comforting flavor. It’s a simple yet perfect accompaniment to this beloved family recipe.

Step-by-step

    • In a large sauce pan, place 2-3 Tablespoons of oil along with onion and garlic on medium to low heat.
    • Stir for a few minutes (3-4 minutes) and then add: canned Tomatoes, Tomato Paste and stir.
    • Add the 3 cups of Water, stir well.
    • Now you can add your spices, Oregano, Salt and Sugar.
    • Again, stir well and turn heat up. You will want the sauce to get hot but not boiling.
    • Now you can add your frozen Meatballs. (make sure you have a pan big enough to hold the sauce & meatballs).
    • Turn the heat down and simmer. Stir occasionally.
    • As soon as sauce begins to simmer....get a large pot, big enough to boil your spaghetti (as directed on package or box).
    • I normally add a teaspoon of salt to the water, bring to a boil, add spaghetti, stir well and often, and boil for 10 minutes.
    • Drain off water.
    • Place spaghetti on plate and top with the Meatballs & Sauce.
