Easy Apple pie. This pie is easy to make and turns out fantastic every time. I use Fireside Apples because I grow them in the back yard, but other apples will work just as well.

My Easy Apple Pie Recipe: A Slice of Home

As a busy mom, time is a precious commodity. Finding quick and easy recipes that don't sacrifice flavor is a constant quest. That's why this apple pie recipe has become a staple in our home. It’s simple enough for a weeknight dessert, yet elegant enough for a special occasion. The secret? It's all about embracing simplicity and letting the fresh, natural flavors of the apples shine.

I've always loved baking, but juggling work, kids, and everything else life throws at us can sometimes make it feel like a luxury. This recipe changed that. It requires minimal prep time, uses readily available ingredients, and delivers consistently delicious results. It's the kind of recipe that even my kids – notoriously picky eaters – will devour. And that, my friends, is a win in my book.

The beauty of this apple pie is its versatility. While I adore using my homegrown Fireside apples, the recipe is perfectly adaptable to any variety you have on hand. Whether you're using Granny Smiths for their tartness, Honeycrisps for their sweetness, or a mix of both, you can expect a wonderfully comforting and satisfying dessert.

One of my favorite things about baking is the ability to share the fruits of my labor (pun intended!). This pie is perfect for potlucks, gatherings with friends, or simply a cozy night in with the family. The warm, comforting aroma filling the kitchen as it bakes is almost as delightful as the taste itself. It's a guaranteed way to bring a smile to everyone's face – a small act of kindness baked into every slice.

More than just a dessert, this apple pie represents the heart of home for me. It's a reminder to slow down, appreciate simple pleasures, and savor the moments spent with loved ones. The warmth of the oven, the sweet scent of cinnamon and apples, the happy chatter around the table – these are the things that make life truly worthwhile. And all it takes is a few simple ingredients and a little bit of love to create a truly magical experience.

So, grab your aprons, gather your ingredients, and let's get baking! This easy apple pie recipe is more than just a dessert; it's a journey back to simpler times, a reminder of the joy found in simple pleasures, and a recipe for creating lasting memories with the people you cherish most. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup flour
  • 5 large apples, sliced
  • 2 store-bought pie crusts (one for the top)
  • 0.25 tsp ginger
  • 0.25 tsp allspice
  • 5 tbsp cornstarch

Tips and Variations:

  • For a richer flavor, try using brown sugar instead of white sugar.
  • Add a sprinkle of nutmeg or cardamom for an extra layer of warmth.
  • Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor profile.
  • Top the pie with a streusel topping for added crunch.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent treat.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. Let me know in the comments how yours turns out!

Step-by-step

    • Slice apples, place in microwave safe dish and microwave until they start to soften.
    • In another bowl mix dry ingredients.
    • Place a few tbsp of this mix into the crust, then a layer of apples, then more mix.
    • Repeat this until all the apples are at least an inch and a half above the crust (the apples will cook down).
    • Place second crust over the top and slit with knife to allow steam to escape.
    • Place tinfoil over the top of the pie.
    • Cook the pie at 425 F for 10 minutes, remove the tinfoil, then turn the heat down and cook at 375 F for another 45 minutes to 1 hour.
    • Remove when the apples are soft!
    • Remove the pie to cool!
