Oven Bacon

Every oven runs a little differently so cooking time may vary. It also depends on the thickness of your bacon. The thicker the bacon, the longer it takes. Listen to your nose, it will smell when the bacon is ready. Also, don't do this in a preheated oven. Don't ask me why, but it doesn't work the same. Made that mistake once and I will never do it again! If you want, you can place the bacon back in the oven on warm or about 200 F for a few minutes to keep it warm while the rest of breakfast gets finished.

The Easiest Oven-Baked Bacon: A Busy Mom's Secret Weapon

Let's be honest, mornings are hectic. Between getting kids ready for school, packing lunches, and trying to squeeze in a quick workout before work, the last thing on my mind is meticulously frying bacon. That's why oven-baked bacon has become my absolute lifesaver. It's so simple, requires minimal cleanup, and results in perfectly crispy bacon every single time. Forget the splatter, forget the constant flipping – this method is pure genius.

I used to be a slave to the stovetop, constantly monitoring the bacon and cursing the inevitable grease splatters. Then, a friend shared her secret: oven-baked bacon. At first, I was skeptical. Would it be as crispy? Would it taste the same? The answer is a resounding yes! In fact, I dare say it’s even better. The oven method allows for even cooking, resulting in consistently crispy bacon from end to end. No more limp, undercooked bits!

This recipe is incredibly versatile. You can adjust the baking time based on your bacon’s thickness and your preferred level of crispiness. Thicker cut bacon will take a bit longer, while thinner bacon might cook faster. Pay attention to the aroma – the delightful smell of bacon will be your guide! Trust your nose; it won't steer you wrong. And don’t worry if you’re slightly behind schedule; the warm setting on your oven is perfect for keeping the bacon warm while you attend to other breakfast preparations.

A few key tips for oven-baked bacon perfection:

  • Start with a cold oven: This is crucial. Preheating the oven results in unevenly cooked bacon. Believe me, I learned this the hard way.
  • Line your baking sheet: Aluminum foil is your best friend here. It makes cleanup a breeze, and a sheet with a lip prevents grease from spilling onto your oven bottom. Trust me on this one too – grease fires are no fun.
  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet: Give your bacon strips some breathing room to ensure even cooking. If you have a lot of bacon, use multiple baking sheets.
  • Flip halfway through: For perfectly even crispiness, flip the bacon halfway through the baking time.
  • Drain on paper towels: Once cooked, place your bacon on paper towels to absorb excess grease. This step contributes to extra-crispy results.

This easy method has changed my mornings forever. No more stressful bacon-frying sessions! It frees up my stovetop, leaving me more time to focus on other important breakfast tasks. Now, my family enjoys perfectly cooked, crispy bacon every morning, without any fuss. Give this recipe a try; you won’t be disappointed.

So, the next time you're craving perfectly crispy bacon, skip the stovetop and reach for your oven instead. You'll thank me later!

Step-by-step

    • Line baking sheet(s) with aluminum foil
    • Place cold bacon onto sheet with a little breathing room between each strip. Make sure the sheet has a lip so that the grease doesn't drip on the bottom of the oven. Grease fires are never a good thing :)
    • Place sheets into cold oven and turn on to 400 F
    • Bake for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through
    • It will look like the above picture when ready. Pull out and place on paper towel lined plates to drain excess grease
    • Crunch, eat, enjoy!
