Chicken Fried Bacon with Cream Gravy
Bacon—it's the ice cream of the meat world, high in Vitamin-G (grease) and bound to make the food police crazy! This side of fat, double-dipped in fat, then fried in fat & served with a side of fat (cream gravy) recipe comes from Sodolak's Original Country Inn restaurant in Snook, Texas. Cream gravy is my own recipe. I do not admit to ever making fried bacon, so prep time is a guesstimate.

Chicken Fried Bacon with Creamy Dreamy Gravy: A Texas-Sized Treat

Oh, honey, let me tell you about this recipe. It's not for the faint of heart, the health-conscious, or anyone who doesn't appreciate a good, honest-to-goodness, artery-clogging delight. This isn't some fluffy, light and airy dish; this is pure, unadulterated, glorious indulgence. We're talking Chicken Fried Bacon, folks, and not just any chicken fried bacon, but the kind that's so crispy it practically sings, and so dripping with flavor it'll leave you speechless.

I first encountered this culinary masterpiece at Sodolak's Original Country Inn in Snook, Texas. Picture this: a cozy little restaurant, filled with the aroma of sizzling bacon and bubbling gravy. The kind of place where the waitresses know your name and the coffee is always strong. It was there, amidst the friendly chatter and the comforting clinking of silverware, that I tasted heaven in the form of chicken-fried bacon. Now, I know what you're thinking: chicken-fried bacon? Is that even a thing? Oh, my sweet summer child, it's not just a thing, it's an *experience*.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. It's the kind of dish that doesn't require fancy ingredients or complicated techniques. It's about taking something already delicious – bacon – and making it even more irresistible. The key is in the double-dipping. First, you gently coax the bacon into a bath of egg and milk, then you cradle it in a comforting embrace of seasoned flour. This double-dipping process creates a crispy, golden-brown crust that perfectly complements the rich, savory flavor of the bacon.

And then there’s the gravy. Oh, the gravy! This isn't your average, run-of-the-mill gravy. This is a creamy, dreamy, slightly peppery masterpiece that elevates the chicken-fried bacon to new heights. Think smooth, velvety cream infused with just the right amount of salt and pepper. It’s the perfect counterpoint to the crispy bacon, adding a touch of richness and depth to each bite.

I've adapted the original recipe slightly, adding my own personal touch to the cream gravy. I’ve experimented with different types of milk and cream, playing with the consistency to find the perfect balance. The result? A gravy that is so incredibly delicious, you’ll find yourself reaching for another biscuit just to soak up every last drop.

But this recipe isn't just about the food. It's about the memories, the atmosphere, and the simple pleasure of enjoying a truly exceptional meal. It’s about slowing down, savoring each bite, and appreciating the simple things in life. It’s about sharing a meal with loved ones, laughing, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. So, go on, treat yourself. Make this recipe. You won't regret it. And if you do happen to find yourself with a little extra bacon, well, let's just say there's always room for seconds.

This recipe is a testament to the magic of simple ingredients and thoughtful preparation. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most satisfying meals are the ones that are uncomplicated and deeply flavorful. So gather your ingredients, put on your apron, and get ready to embark on a culinary adventure that will transport you straight to the heart of Texas hospitality. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to create a dish that's both incredibly delicious and incredibly memorable.
