Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 packet instant or quick-rise yeast

This recipe isn't just a recipe; it’s a gateway to a more fulfilling and delicious life, one warm slice at a time.

Step-by-step

    • Mix the yeast and water together in a large bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes.
    • In another bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and mix together with a whisk to ensure even distribution.
    • Add a little bit of the flour mixture to the water at a time, thoroughly mixing it with a spatula before adding more. If the dough looks dry or isn't sticky to the touch, add a tablespoon of water, mix, check and add more if needed. You want the dough to be completely incorporated and sticky to the touch.
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set it someplace warm for 2-3 hours while the dough rises.
    • When risen, you can turn it out onto a greased and dusted cookie sheet or loaf pan. If you placed it on a cookie sheet, with a dough blade, lift one edge up and fold it over itself. Repeat this step for each edge until you get a nice round ball of dough. Spray the dough with olive oil or non-stick spray, and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise for 30 minutes to an hour.
    • Make sure you have your oven rack in the middle of the oven and then preheat your oven to 475°F/245°C.
    • Place the cookie sheet or bread loaf tin into the oven and bake for 30-45 minutes, until golden brown and delicious.
    • When done, place the loaf onto a wire rack for cooling.
