It cuts down on prep time significantly, allowing me to enjoy a home-cooked meal without spending hours in the kitchen. Plus, the braid is visually appealing, making it perfect for weeknight dinners or even a casual get-together with friends.

The combination of tender chicken, vibrant broccoli, and melty cheese within the flaky, buttery crescent roll braid is a winning combination. My kids absolutely adore this dish, and it’s also a great way to sneak in some extra vegetables. The recipe is easily adaptable; feel free to experiment with different cheeses or add other vegetables like mushrooms or carrots. I often use leftover roasted chicken to speed up the process even further. It's become a family favorite, a testament to how a little creativity and a smart shortcut can transform a busy weeknight into a delicious and memorable occasion.

Beyond the convenience, this dish is incredibly versatile. Tips and Variations:

  • Spice it up: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling for a little heat.
  • Cheese variations: Experiment with different cheeses like Monterey Jack, pepper jack, or a blend of your favorites.
  • Veggie boost: Add diced carrots, zucchini, or mushrooms to the filling for extra nutrients.
  • Herb variations: Try using Italian seasoning or a different herb blend instead of dill.
  • Make it ahead: Assemble the braid ahead of time and refrigerate it until you're ready to bake.

This Chicken & Broccoli Braid is more than just a recipe; it's a testament to the power of efficient cooking and the joy of sharing a delicious, homemade meal with loved ones. Give it a try and experience the magic for yourself!

Step-by-step

    • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine broccoli, chicken, bell pepper, cheese, mayonnaise, dill mix, pressed garlic and salt in bowl; mix well.
    • Unroll one package of the crescent rolls; do not separate. Arrange longest sides of dough across width of a rectangular baking stone. Using a rolling pin, roll dough to seal perforations. On longest sides of baking stone cut dough into strips 1 1/2 in. apart, 3 in. deep. (There will be 6 in. in the center for the filling.)
    • Spread the filling over the center of the dough. To braid, lift dough strips across filling to meet in center, twisting each strip one turn. Continue alternating strips to form a braid. Tuck ends up to seal at the end of the braid. Brush egg white over dough. Sprinkle with almonds.
    • Bake 25-28 minutes or until deep golden brown.
