Chicken Tikka Pizza

Chicken Tikka Pizza
Chicken Tikka Pizza
Pizza belongs to Italian cuisine; in this recipe, I change the way to marinate the chicken. I prepare chicken as we prepare Indian or Pakistani style BBQ, which is called Tikka.

Chicken Tikka Pizza: A Fusion Delight

A Taste of Two Worlds: My Chicken Tikka Pizza Adventure

As a busy working mom, finding time to cook delicious and satisfying meals can be a real challenge. I'm constantly juggling work deadlines, school pick-ups, and everything else that comes with modern life. But I refuse to let that compromise my love for good food. So, I'm always on the lookout for recipes that are both flavorful and efficient. That's how I came up with this Chicken Tikka Pizza – a delightful fusion of Italian and Indian flavors that's surprisingly quick and easy to make.

The inspiration struck me during one of my rare evenings off. I was craving pizza, but I also had a hankering for the smoky, tangy flavors of chicken tikka. Why not combine the two? The idea was a little daring, I admit, but the result was beyond my expectations. The combination of the crispy pizza crust, the rich tomato sauce, the melting cheeses, and the perfectly spiced chicken tikka created a symphony of taste that left my family speechless (and happily full!).

What sets this pizza apart is the marinade for the chicken. Instead of the usual Italian herbs and spices, I used a classic Indian tikka marinade – a blend of yogurt, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, and a touch of red pepper. This gives the chicken a wonderfully aromatic and slightly spicy flavor that perfectly complements the other ingredients. The process is surprisingly simple. Just marinate the chicken for an hour, then pan-fry it until it's cooked through and slightly charred. This gives it a beautiful texture and prevents it from becoming dry.

The pizza dough itself is a basic recipe. I use a simple yeast-based dough that’s easy to make from scratch. If you're short on time, you can certainly use store-bought dough, but making it from scratch adds a touch of homemade goodness that's hard to resist. After a short rise, it's rolled out, baked briefly, and then topped with the star of the show: the flavorful chicken tikka. I add a generous layer of my homemade pizza sauce. This is one of my family recipes and it always delivers a great taste. Then, it's time to shower it with a mix of cheddar and mozzarella cheese, along with chopped red onions, tomatoes, capsicum (bell peppers), and fresh coriander. Once it's beautifully browned, I finish it with a final touch: melted butter brushed onto the crust for a delightful extra layer of flavor.

This Chicken Tikka Pizza is more than just a meal; it's a testament to the power of culinary creativity and the joy of blending different cultures and flavors. It’s a perfect dish for a family gathering, a casual weeknight dinner, or even a special occasion. And trust me, the leftovers are just as delicious the next day, making it an even more appealing option for busy weeknights. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

So, next time you're looking for a quick, easy, and surprisingly delicious meal, remember this Chicken Tikka Pizza. It’s a recipe that's as versatile as it is tasty, readily adaptable to your own preferences and available ingredients. Experiment with different cheeses, add your favorite vegetables, or even try different spices in the marinade. The possibilities are endless! You can even make individual pizzas, perfect for a family with varied taste preferences, ensuring everyone gets to enjoy a delicious and personalized slice of heaven.

The best part about this recipe is that it’s a fantastic platform for creativity. Feel free to experiment with different toppings to suit your preferences. Add some jalapenos for an extra kick, try using different types of cheese, or even incorporate other vegetables like spinach or mushrooms. The possibilities are truly endless. One of my favorite variations is adding a sprinkle of fresh cilantro for a final touch of freshness and vibrancy. The possibilities are endless!

Step-by-step

    • Cut chicken into 1 inch cubes, marinate with all these ingredients except oil and leave for an hour.
    • In a skillet take oil and fry marinated chicken for 5 minutes on medium flame.
    • Then reduce heat to low and let it cook about 10 minutes covered until it dries.
    • Mix salt to flour then add all ingredients, pour water on it and knead to make smooth dough about 5 to 7 minutes.
    • Let the dough rest in an oiled bowl, covered with a slightly wet kitchen towel for an hour, until double in size.
    • After one hour pat the dough and roll into a big circle.
    • Leave for 15 minutes then bake for 15 minutes at 180c or until dough starts changing color, take out from oven, spread pizza sauce & top with cheddar, mozzarella, onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves, capsicum and Chicken Tikka.
    • One handful of mozzarella on the top & bake again at 180c for 15 minutes or until cheese starts browning.
    • Keep an eye on the bottom of the pizza crust; don't let it get dark brown. If it is happening then just place a piece of aluminum foil under the pizza pan. You have to adjust the heat.
    • After baking immediately brush crust sides with melted butter.
