Easy Peanut Butter Cup Cookies: A Christmas Tradition

Christmas is my favorite time of year. The twinkling lights, the cozy nights spent by the fire, the feeling of togetherness... and of course, the baking! Every year, I try to make a few of my family's favorite treats, and these easy peanut butter cup cookies are always at the top of the list. They're simple to make, even for a busy mom like myself, and the kids absolutely adore them. It's become a cherished tradition in our home, a sweet little ritual that marks the arrival of the holiday season. The aroma of warm cookies baking in the oven fills the house with a comforting warmth, a tangible reminder of the joy and magic of Christmas.

The best part? These cookies are incredibly adaptable. While the classic combination of peanut butter cookie dough and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is a guaranteed winner, I've experimented with variations over the years. Sometimes I'll substitute Hershey's Kisses for a different flavor profile, creating a delightful mix of textures and tastes. Other times, I'll use a combination of both, creating a delightful surprise in each bite. The kids love guessing what kind of candy they'll find in their cookie! The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity; it's a blank canvas onto which you can paint your own festive masterpiece.

Beyond the taste, making these cookies with my children has become a cherished aspect of the holiday season. It's a time for creating memories, sharing laughter, and teaching them the simple joy of baking. The process itself, from carefully measuring ingredients to the delicate placement of the peanut butter cups, is a shared experience that strengthens our bond. It’s more than just a recipe; it’s a tradition that builds family connections and fills our home with the sweet scent of love and togetherness. Watching their faces light up when they take their first bite is reward enough, a moment that encapsulates the true spirit of Christmas. The cookies themselves are delicious, but the memories created while making them are priceless.

This year, as I prepare to bake another batch of these delightful cookies, I'm already anticipating the joy on my children's faces and the cozy atmosphere that will fill our home. The scent of warm cookies will mingle with the scent of pine needles from our Christmas tree, creating an unforgettable sensory experience that truly embodies the magic of the holiday season. These easy peanut butter cup cookies are more than just a sweet treat; they’re the heart of our Christmas tradition, a testament to the simple pleasures that make life truly special. They're a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things are the sweetest.

So, whether you're a seasoned baker or a kitchen novice, I encourage you to give this recipe a try. It's a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, perfect for sharing with loved ones and creating lasting memories. And who knows, it might just become your new favorite Christmas tradition too!

Ingredients You'll Need:

  • 1 tube peanut butter cookie dough
  • 1 package Reese's miniature peanut butter cups (or Hershey's Kisses, or a combination of both!)

Tips for Success:

  • Don't overbake the cookies! Start checking them at 9 minutes to ensure they don't burn.
  • Press the peanut butter cups into the cookies immediately after removing them from the oven – this helps them adhere better.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before serving to prevent them from becoming too soft.
  • Get the kids involved! Baking together is a wonderful way to bond and create lasting memories.

Happy baking, and Merry Christmas!

Step-by-step

    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    • Spray (2) miniature muffin tins with non-stick cooking spray.
    • Slice cookie dough into 1/2 inch slices and then quarter each slice.
    • Put one quarter into each muffin cup until you've used all of the dough.
    • Peel the paper off of enough peanut butter cups to fill each muffin cup that has cookie dough in it and set the candy aside.
    • Bake the cookie dough 9-10 minutes or until golden brown.
    • Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, press one piece of candy into the middle of each cookie.
    • Let cool for about 10 minutes before removing to a serving dish.
    • You can substitute Hershey's Kisses for the Peanut Butter Cups or use a variety of both.
