Tips and Tricks for Sunflower Seed Sauce Success

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you master this recipe and unlock its full potential:

  • Soaking vs. Boiling: Soaking the sunflower seeds beforehand helps to soften them and improves the texture of the final sauce. Boiling works equally well if you're short on time.
  • Spice it Up: Don't be afraid to experiment with spices! Try adding a pinch of cumin, coriander, or even a dash of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  • Herbs for Freshness: Fresh herbs can elevate the flavor profile of the sauce. Try adding parsley, dill, or cilantro for a burst of freshness.
  • Adjust to Your Taste: This recipe is a guideline; feel free to adjust the quantities of soy sauce, salt, and spices to your liking.
  • Storage: Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It's even better the next day, as the flavors have a chance to meld together.

This versatile sauce is truly a culinary chameleon. I hope you enjoy the journey of creating and experiencing its delicious magic!

Step-by-step

    • Soak the sunflower seeds for a couple of hours or overnight. You can also boil them for 15 minutes instead of soaking.

    • Add to a blender along with water, soy sauce, salt, paprika powder and curry powder.
    • Blend for a couple of minutes until smooth.
    • Heat up some oil in a pan.
    • Add thinly sliced onions.
    • Cook for a couple of minutes.
    • Add chopped garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
    • Add the blended sauce, stir and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
    • If you want, you can use the sauce right after blending and skip the cooked onion part.
