    2. In large bowl, combine sugar and margarine; beat until well blended.
    3. Add almond extract and eggs; blend well.
    4. Add flour and baking powder; mix well.
    5. Stir in cherries and mini chocolate chips.
    6. Shape dough into two 10 inch rolls.
    7. Place rolls 5 inches apart on greased cookie sheet; flatten each to 3 inch width.
    8. Bake at 350 for 20-25 mins or until set and light golden brown.
    9. Remove from cookie sheet; place on wire racks. Cool 10 mins.
    10. With serrated knife, cut rolls diagonally into ? inch thick slices.
    11. Arrange slices, cut side down, on ungreased cookie sheets.
    12. Bake at 350 for 8-10 mins or until bottoms begin to brown.
    13. Turn cookies over; bake an additional 5 mins or until browned and crisp.
    14. Remove from cookie sheets; cool 15 mins or until completely cooled.
