The Fall air is one of my favorite. The days are getting shorter the morning are colder. Our home cooking reflects that by having more sauces, more oven cooked meals. The aromas that linger in the house are warming to the soul.

As the autumn season approaches, I always find myself craving comfort food that reminds me of cozy evenings spent with loved ones. One of my favorite dishes to make during this time is Cheese Pork Chops, a simple yet flavorful meal that combines tender pork chops with a creamy cheese sauce. The preparation is fairly straightforward, and the resulting dish is sure to please the whole family.

The key to this recipe lies in the perfect balance of flavors. The pork chops are seasoned with salt and pepper, then seared in a skillet until they develop a golden-brown crust. This creates a crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy and flavorful. Meanwhile, a rich and tangy cheese sauce is prepared using heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Gruyere cheese. The sauce is then poured over the pork chops and broiled until it bubbles and turns a beautiful golden color.

Step-by-step

    • In a heavy bottom skillet melt the butter with the olive oil.
    • Sauté the pork chops over medium high 3 minutes on each side.
    • Lower the heat to medium and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes for side.
    • Salt and pepper to taste.
    • Meanwhile turn on the broil.
    • Mix together in a bowl the heavy cream, mustard and the cheese.
    • Remove the chops from the stove and place them in a oven proof dish.
    • Spread the cheese-cream mixture over the chops and broil for about 5 minutes.
