Philly Cheese Steak Biscuit Bites: A Quick and Easy Recipe

Philly Cheese Steak Biscuit Bites: A Weeknight Winner

As a busy working mom, I'm always on the lookout for quick and easy recipes that the whole family will enjoy. This Philly cheese steak biscuit bites recipe has become a recent favorite. It's surprisingly simple to make, requires minimal cleanup, and tastes absolutely delicious. The combination of savory roast beef, crisp onions, and melted cheese nestled inside fluffy biscuits is pure comfort food, perfect for a weeknight dinner or a casual weekend lunch. What's more, it's easily adaptable to your dietary needs and preferences. You can adjust the ingredients to control the calorie count or simply use your preferred type of cheese.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. No complicated techniques or hard-to-find ingredients are involved. Everything is readily available at your local grocery store. Even my kids, who are usually picky eaters, love these biscuit bites. They’re fun to eat, and the small size makes them perfect for portion control. I often make a double batch, especially if we’re having friends over, as they disappear quickly! I've found that using smaller biscuits from a standard 10-pack works best, but you can certainly experiment with larger biscuits if you prefer. Just remember that the cooking time might need to be adjusted accordingly. Prep time is minimal – about 15 minutes – and the cooking time is roughly 20 minutes, making this a truly speedy meal solution.

Tips and Variations:

  • Cheese Selection: Feel free to experiment with different cheeses! Provolone, cheddar, or even a pepper jack would all be delicious additions.
  • Vegetable Choices: While I prefer a simple combination of green pepper and red onion, feel free to add other vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Spice it Up: Add a pinch of your favorite seasoning blend, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or even a little cayenne pepper, for a bit of a kick.
  • Make it Ahead: You can assemble the biscuit bites ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake them. Just add a few minutes to the baking time.
  • Serving Suggestions: These are wonderful served on their own, or you can pair them with a simple side salad or some roasted vegetables for a complete meal.

Beyond the ease and deliciousness, this recipe represents a commitment to spending quality time with my family. It's not just about making dinner; it’s about the memories created in the kitchen, the laughter shared, and the sense of togetherness that comes from preparing a meal together. That, to me, is the most important ingredient of all. In our busy lives, it’s easy to fall into the trap of relying on takeout or quick, less healthy options. However, this recipe proves that you can create something delicious and satisfying without sacrificing your precious time or your commitment to healthy eating.

I encourage you to try this recipe. It’s a simple joy that brightens even the most hectic of days. And who knows, maybe it will become a new family favorite in your home as well. So, gather your ingredients, roll up your sleeves, and let's get cooking! The aroma alone is worth it. Let me know in the comments how you enjoy this recipe! I can’t wait to hear your feedback. Bon appétit!

Step-by-step

    • Dice your pepper and onion and heat in a large frying pan over medium heat. I used cooking spray in my pan. Use oil if you wish but it will add a few points overall.
    • Sauté veggies for 5-10 minutes.
    • Cut up your deli roast beef into small pieces and add to your veggies, cook for 5 minutes then set aside.
    • Preheat oven to 375F and spray a round 8 inch dish or similar with some non-stick spray.
    • Cut your 10 biscuits open and flatten pieces out.
    • Place a spoonful of your roast beef mix onto one of your dough pieces, top with a little cheese, only about ½ Tbsp then place other biscuit piece on top and pinch seems to close. This will be your hardest part of the recipe, it requires a little patience getting all the biscuits filled and sealed.
    • Place filled biscuits into your dish, brush with some egg whites (or a whole egg is fine too) and bake for 20-22 minutes until tops are golden brown.
    • Serve warm. You can use the bigger biscuits packs just know that your points will be higher and you will need more roast beef/veggies, also you can use any kind of cheese you wish, I used the reduced fat mozzarella to keep points low.
