I was craving lettuce cups the other night, but I didn't have any chicken on hand. I did, however, have some lean ground beef, so I decided to give beef lettuce cups a try. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint! They were so flavorful and satisfying, and they came together in no time. Plus, they're a great way to get your veggies in.

To make these beef lettuce cups, you'll start by cooking the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Once the beef is browned, add the onion, garlic, and mushrooms to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are softened. Then, stir in the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped peanuts, and white pepper. Cook for a few more minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

To assemble the lettuce cups, simply spoon the beef mixture into romaine lettuce leaves. You can add other toppings to your lettuce cups, such as shredded carrots, bell peppers, or cucumbers. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Step-by-step

    • Cook the beef, onion, and garlic until almost done, then drain the meat.
    • Put the meat back in the skillet and chop it finely with a masher or spatula, or use a hand mixer.
    • Add the mushrooms, celery, carrots, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped peanuts, and white pepper.
    • Wash and dry your romaine leaves, break off the white thick end of them, and place the leaves in a circle on a nice platter.
    • Drop the mixture by large tablespoons onto your lettuce cups and serve.
