Step-by-step

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place a 9"x13" pan on the bottom rack of your oven and fill half way with water. Position a rack just above the pan, in the middle of the oven.
  • To make the crust, use a food processor to chop up the 20 Oreo cookies until they turn to a fine crumb, drizzle in the melted butter and pulse until combined. Optionally, you can use your hands or a rolling pin to crush the cookies.
  • Press the crumbs in a 10" spring form pan in an even layer, and a little up the sides of the pan.
  • Bake for 5 minutes, then remove from oven, set aside.
  • In the bowl of your stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add the greek yogurt, sugar and vanilla and beat until combined, scraping down the sides of bowl when necessary.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating in between.
  • Gently fold in the chopped Oreo cookies, then pour into the spring form pan.
  • Bake for 1 hour, or until the center of the cheesecake is only slightly jiggly.
  • Turn the oven off, and crack the oven door open slightly, letting the cheesecake rest inside the oven for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Let cool on counter top until room temperature, then refrigerate (covered) for 2 hours.
  • Run a knife along the edges of the cake to loosen from the spring form pan. Gently unlock it and clean up any rough edges before topping with the remaining chopped Oreos.
  • Serve with a drizzle of chocolate syrup if desired. Enjoy!
My Oreo Cheesecake Adventure

My Oreo Cheesecake Obsession: A Culinary Journey

As a busy working mom, finding time for elaborate baking projects is a luxury. But when a craving hits, especially for something rich and decadent like cheesecake, I'm willing to carve out the time. This Oreo Cheesecake recipe isn't just a dessert; it's a testament to the power of simple ingredients transformed into something truly special. The creamy, cool texture of the cheesecake, the satisfying crunch of the Oreo crust and topping – it’s a symphony of flavors that always hits the spot. And the best part? It's surprisingly easier to make than you might think! I've adapted several recipes over the years, tweaking them to fit my busy schedule and, dare I say, my palate. This particular recipe has become a staple in my household, requested by my family and friends alike.

The beauty of this cheesecake lies in its adaptability. Want to make it a little healthier? Try substituting some of the cream cheese with Greek yogurt (a secret ingredient in my recipe!), adding a touch of extra sweetness from a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Feel adventurous? Experiment with different cookie crumb bases—graham crackers offer a lovely alternative, or even crushed shortbread for a unique twist. I sometimes add a layer of fresh berries or a swirl of chocolate ganache for an unexpected element. The possibilities are truly endless. This recipe is a blank canvas for your creativity, ready to be personalized to reflect your unique tastes. This is more than just baking; it's a process of expressing myself through food, something that my family is always thankful for.

The Magic of the Oreo Crust: I’ve tried various methods of making the crust – from the food processor route to the old-fashioned “roll it out with a rolling pin” approach. This Oreo Cheesecake starts with a simple, yet incredibly satisfying Oreo crust. The perfect amount of sweetness and a satisfying crunch, this crust is a real highlight! It’s the kind of crust that makes you want to eat it on its own, but then again, who needs just the crust when you can have the whole decadent thing?!

The Cheesecake Filling: The filling is where the magic truly happens. It’s a luxuriously creamy combination of cream cheese, Greek yogurt, eggs, sugar, and of course, more crushed Oreos! That’s where the magic truly is: not only is it incredibly easy to prepare, but it also produces an unbelievably creamy and rich cheesecake. The Greek yogurt adds a subtle tanginess that cuts through the richness of the cream cheese, preventing it from being overly sweet. The result? A perfectly balanced dessert that’s not too heavy, but still intensely satisfying. Each bite delivers this beautiful interplay of textures – the crisp cookies against the smooth, cool cheesecake – an experience that simply can’t be beat!

Baking and Cooling: The baking process is straightforward. One of the biggest challenges of making cheesecakes is preventing cracks, and my favorite trick is a water bath. This helps to create a nice, even bake. And let's not forget the essential part – patience! Letting the cheesecake cool slowly, both in the oven and in the refrigerator, is key to achieving that perfect, smooth texture. A slightly jiggly center is perfectly okay! It’ll firm up as it chills. Taking time to allow it to set correctly will truly reward you.

The Finishing Touch: Once cooled and set, the final step is to decorate. A simple sprinkling of crushed Oreos over the top adds a beautiful touch and an extra burst of that iconic Oreo flavor. For an extra special occasion, I sometimes drizzle melted chocolate over the top, creating a beautiful and decadent finish. But honestly, even without extra decoration, this cheesecake is a showstopper all on its own.

More than just a recipe, this Oreo Cheesecake is a cherished tradition in my family. It's a dessert that embodies the joy of simple moments shared with loved ones, a reminder that even amidst the chaos of daily life, there’s always time for a little sweetness – a moment of calm and deliciousness. And that, my friends, is something worth celebrating.
