Triple Almond Energy Balls

I love energy balls because they are infinitely customizable and so easy to take on the go. I like to grab a couple straight from the freezer and pop them into a small glass jar to throw in my purse on busy days. They are perfect for tiding you over until mealtime, and this Triple Almond Energy Ball recipe is toddler-approved, too—just be sure to cut them up into small pieces as ball shapes are a choking hazard. Their rich, nutty flavor comes from using whole almonds, roasted almond butter, and almond extract. A true triple threat! You may recognize the flavor from my Triple Almond Thumbprint Cookies. I just cant get enough of almond extract—I find it really heightens the flavor in almond-based recipes!

Step-by-step

  • Add the almonds and cashews to a food processor and process into a coarse crumb. Be sure not to overprocess the nuts into butter.
  • To the nut mixture, add the pitted dates. Process again until the dates are finely chopped.
  • Next, add the roasted almond butter (or raw cashew butter, if using), cinnamon, salt, almond extract, and water (starting with a couple teaspoons) to the processor bowl and process again until the mixture comes together into a dough. You should be able to easily roll the dough into balls without them feeling dry or crumbly. If the dough is too dry, add more water one teaspoon at a time and continue processing until the mixture moistens to desired consistency.
  • Roll the dough into 11 to 12 golf ball-sized balls. If using, roll each ball in your garnish of choice: shredded coconut, hemp hearts, ground shelled pistachios (or other nuts), or cocoa powder. (If the garnishes aren't sticking, you can lightly wet the balls with water before rolling.)
  • Chill the balls in the freezer for about an hour to firm up, or feel free to eat them at room temperature if you can't wait that long! Leftover balls will keep in an airtight container in the freezer for a few weeks. You can also store them in the fridge in an airtight container for several days if you prefer.

Triple Almond Energy Balls: A Busy Woman's Best Friend

As a working mom, time is my most precious commodity. Between juggling work deadlines, school pick-ups, and keeping the house somewhat tidy, finding healthy and convenient snacks is a constant challenge. That's where these Triple Almond Energy Balls come in. They're not just delicious; they're a lifesaver!

I discovered the magic of energy balls a few years ago, and since then, they've become a staple in my kitchen. Their versatility is unmatched. Need a quick breakfast on the go? Energy balls. Need a satisfying afternoon pick-me-up to get through that afternoon slump? Energy balls. Need a healthy treat to share with the kids (after being cut into bite-sized pieces, of course)? You guessed it – energy balls! The best part? They’re surprisingly easy to make, even for someone like me who doesn’t have hours to spend in the kitchen.

This particular recipe, with its triple almond punch – whole almonds, almond butter, and almond extract – is a personal favorite. The rich, nutty flavor is absolutely addictive, and the combination of textures is just delightful. It's a sophisticated treat that satisfies my sweet tooth without the guilt. And let's be honest, the convenience factor is a game-changer. I can whip up a batch on a weekend and then grab a few from the freezer throughout the week. They’re perfect for stashing in my bag for those unexpectedly long days.

Beyond the Convenience: Nutrition and Energy

One of the things I love most about these energy balls is their nutritional profile. Almonds are packed with healthy fats, fiber, and protein, which means these little balls provide sustained energy, keeping me feeling full and focused throughout the day. The dates add natural sweetness, and the cinnamon adds a warm, comforting spice that's simply irresistible. It's a guilt-free indulgence that actually fuels my body instead of weighing it down.

Adapting to Your Taste and Lifestyle

The beauty of this recipe is its adaptability. Feel free to experiment with different nuts and seeds to customize the flavor and texture. Swap in other nut butters, add dried cranberries or chocolate chips for a touch of sweetness, or get creative with your coatings. The possibilities are endless! For a festive twist, use peppermint extract during the holiday season; for a summery vibe, consider adding shredded coconut. The key is to have fun and find your perfect combination. I often encourage my family to join me in creating new variations, turning this simple recipe into a fun family activity.

More than Just a Snack

These energy balls are more than just a convenient snack; they’re a testament to my commitment to prioritizing my health and well-being. In the whirlwind of daily life, it’s easy to neglect self-care, but these little balls are a constant reminder to myself to pause, nourish myself, and keep going. They’re a symbol of self-care disguised as a delicious treat, and that’s something I can appreciate.

So, if you're a busy woman juggling a million things, I highly recommend trying this recipe. You'll be amazed at how simple it is to make and how satisfying these energy balls are. They’re the perfect solution to busy days, late nights, and unexpected cravings. They’re my secret weapon for maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle without sacrificing taste or convenience. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Making it a Family Affair

Involving my children in the preparation of these energy balls has become a cherished family tradition. It’s a fun activity that teaches them about healthy eating and the importance of wholesome ingredients. We often make it a weekend project, spending quality time together in the kitchen while creating a delicious treat we all enjoy. It’s a great way to bond and learn together.
