Pork Steaks Colonel

After buying a couple of pork steaks on sale I went looking for a way to prepare them. I found a recipe for pork steaks called Pork Steak Major and embellished it a bit. Normally I dont use soup mixes for cooking but this was much better than the typical onion soup mix recipe. I am not very creative with names so I just promoted it a couple of grades.

My Delicious Pork Steak Colonel Recipe

A Weeknight Winner: My Pork Steak Colonel Recipe

As a busy mom, I’m always on the lookout for quick, delicious, and affordable meals that the whole family will enjoy. This Pork Steak Colonel recipe fits the bill perfectly. I stumbled upon a similar recipe, but let's be honest, I'm not one for fancy names, so I tweaked it and gave it a more relatable title. It's a simple, adaptable recipe that you can have on the table in under an hour. The secret? A clever use of onion soup mix that elevates the flavor of the pork steaks without too much fuss.

The inspiration for this dish actually came from a sale at the grocery store! I found some beautifully marbled pork steaks at an incredible price. Normally, I'd shy away from recipes that rely on convenience mixes like onion soup mix, but I was intrigued by the idea of a flavorful base without a lot of prep work. Let me tell you, the result was much better than I ever anticipated! The onion soup mix adds a depth of flavor that’s surprisingly sophisticated, almost restaurant-quality, but with the comfort of a home-cooked meal. It's a perfect balance of sweet and savory that complements the richness of the pork.

What I love most about this recipe is its versatility. Feeling adventurous? You could easily swap out the white wine for a different type of liquor, like sherry or even apple cider for a sweeter twist. Don’t have white wine on hand? No problem! Simply skip that step and the dish will still turn out fantastic. The savory broth and onion soup mix create a wonderfully flavorful sauce without it. It's a great meal to experiment with. This is definitely going into my regular rotation, and I hope it becomes a regular on your table too.

Ingredient Notes:

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. You probably have most of these ingredients on hand already. The star of the show is undoubtedly the pork steaks – aim for a good cut with some marbling for the best flavor and tenderness. Don't be afraid to experiment with different kinds of onions, either. Red onions add a bit of a bite, while shallots will create a subtler flavor profile. You can adjust the amount of chicken broth to your preference; a little extra adds more sauce.

Serving Suggestions:

This dish is incredibly versatile. I personally love serving it with some creamy mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious sauce, but roasted vegetables, a simple green salad, or even some crusty bread would be fantastic accompaniments. The flavor profiles work so well with a variety of sides; you can easily tailor it to your preferences and what’s in season.

This recipe is a true testament to how simple ingredients can create something truly special. It’s perfect for a busy weeknight, yet elegant enough for a casual dinner party. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
