Step-by-step

  • Preheat oven to 400F and Well grease a 12 1 3/4 inch muffin tin. set aside
  • Prepare cornbread as per package mix and spoon into muffin cups. You have an option to include the mustard and thyme into the mixing bowl or I prefer to give a small squeeze into each muffin cup and a sprinkle of the thyme. Mix with a fork inside the cup. Ensure you only fill the cup up to 3/4 full. Bake for 8-9 minutes or until golden. Cool in the muffin cups for 5 minutes. Remove from the tin and cool completely.
  • Meanwhile, stir together the relish and jalapeno in a small mixing bowl. Lots of receipe in big oven for cranberry-orange relish but its basically 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries, 1 large orange, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of chopped pecans in a food processor. Mix until chunky or smooth.
  • Just before serving, split the muffins in half. Top each muffin bottom with the cranberry mixture and some of the packaged Turkey. Top with the other half of the muffin.

Baking the cornbread base requires strict attention to the eight-to-nine-minute oven window at 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent the small portions from drying out before the crumb sets. Achieving balanced flavor distribution in miniature baked goods depends entirely on how the wet and dry components interact inside the vessel.

  • Grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin thoroughly with butter or neutral oil so the batter releases cleanly after cooling for five minutes.
  • Fill each cavity only three-quarters full to allow adequate expansion space without overflowing the edges of the 1 3/4-inch cups.
  • Incorporate the Dijon mustard and fresh thyme directly into the batter inside individual cups using a fork if skipping the initial bowl mix.
  • Pulse fresh or frozen cranberries with one large orange, one cup of sugar, and one cup of pecans in a food processor until reaching a chunky texture.
  • Judge doneness visually by watching for a golden surface coloration and a firm spring-back when pressed gently in the center.

Standard metal muffin tins conduct heat rapidly, whereas dark nonstick surfaces brown edges faster and may require a reduction of oven temperature by 25 degrees. Split the cooled bases horizontally just before assembly to maintain structural integrity and prevent moisture from making the crumb soggy.
