Step-by-step

  • Brown the meat, & drain.
  • And boil noodles until soft.
  • Drain.
  • Don't forget to preheat the oven @ 350.
  • Now the layering starts!
  • Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom of the pan.
  • Second layer, half of the noodles.
  • half of the meat
  • half of the sauce
  • rest of the noodles
  • half the cheese
  • rest of the meat
  • rest of the sauce
  • rest of the cheese
  • pepperonis {I only used half the package. saved the rest for next time}
  • Now cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes
  • After 30 minutes, remove the foil & bake for another 15 minutes.

Bubbling tomato sauce meets browned beef and a heavy blanket of melted mozzarella beneath a crisp ring of pepperoni. Transforming pantry staples into a cohesive casserole requires careful management of moisture and heat. Preserved ingredients like jarred marinara and packaged pepperoni offer intense concentration and convenience, but they also introduce distinct textural challenges.

  • Brown the ground beef thoroughly at medium-high heat and drain excess fat completely before assembly to prevent a greasy pool at the base of the baking dish.
  • Boil the egg noodles strictly until al dente; overcooked pasta absorbs too much liquid from the sauce during the 30 minutes covered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil for the initial bake to trap steam, then remove the foil for the final 15 minutes to properly brown the cheese.
  • Swap standard jarred marinara for an equal volume of crushed whole plum tomatoes seasoned with garlic and oregano if you prefer a brighter, less processed flavor profile.

Ignoring moisture control ruins many baked pasta dishes by turning the noodles mushy. Proper draining safeguards the final structural integrity.
