Step-by-step

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Divide the cookie dough in half.
  • Knead the dough into two small balls and then roll them out to large round discs.
  • Place the flattened dough onto butter sprayed 12” pizza pans.
  • Spread the dough almost to the edges with your hands.
  • Leave 1” space around the dough uncovered to allow room for the dough to expand during baking.
  • Bake both pizza crusts together at 350 F, for 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool before adding toppings.
  • Sprinkle and spread chocolate chips over the crust.
  • Cover them with small marshmallows, closely packed together.
  • Preheat the oven to broil for 5 minutes before putting the pizzas back in the oven.
  • Place one pizza at a time in the oven and heat for 1 – 2 minutes in the preheated broil setting.
  • Stand by and carefully watch the pizza in the oven, because the marshmallows will brown fast and then scorch, defeating the purpose of your beautiful final product.
  • You may also braze the marshmallows with a kitchen torch if you find that getting the right shade is too difficult in the oven.
  • Place 1 cup of chocolate chips into a Ziploc bag and melt in the microwave.
  • Drizzle melted chocolate over each pizza.
  • TIP: For cleaner slicing, warm a large knife in a tall glass of hot water before using it to cut. Rinse the knife clean in the hot water after each slice.
  • This recipe makes 2 -12” pizzas.

Smores Dessert Pizza: A Sweet Treat for Any Occasion

As a busy mom, finding time for elaborate baking projects is often a challenge. Weekends are precious, and I want to spend them with my family, not stuck in the kitchen for hours. That's why I love recipes that are both delicious and surprisingly simple. This S'mores Dessert Pizza is a perfect example – it satisfies everyone's sweet tooth with minimal effort.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its adaptability. You can easily adjust it based on what you have on hand. Feeling adventurous? Try different types of chocolate chips – dark, milk, or even white chocolate. Want to add a nutty crunch? Throw in some chopped peanuts or pecans. The possibilities are endless! And honestly, even if it doesn't turn out perfectly, it will still taste amazing. The gooey marshmallows, the melted chocolate, and the slightly crispy cookie crust – it's a winning combination no matter what.

This dessert pizza isn't just for kids either! It's the perfect ending to a family dinner, a fun activity for a girls' night in, or even a surprisingly sophisticated dessert for a casual get-together. The presentation is impressive, even though the process is remarkably simple. The kids love helping assemble it, which makes it a fun family activity. And let’s be honest, who doesn't love the classic combination of chocolate and marshmallows?

The best part? Cleanup is a breeze. The pizza pans are easy to wash, and if you use a ziplock bag for melting the chocolate, you just toss it when you’re finished. This recipe is also great for making ahead of time. You can prepare the crusts a day or two in advance, keeping them stored in an airtight container, ready for assembly when guests arrive or when the dessert craving hits.

Beyond the basics

While the basic recipe is simple, there’s plenty of room for creative customization. Consider adding graham cracker crumbs to the crust for an extra layer of s’mores flavor. Or, experiment with different types of cookies as a base – shortbread, oatmeal raisin, or even gingerbread could add unique and exciting flavors to your dessert pizza. Feel free to get creative with your marshmallow choices, too! Mini marshmallows are traditional, but you could use larger marshmallows for a more dramatic presentation.

Don't be afraid to experiment with other toppings as well. A drizzle of caramel sauce or a sprinkle of sea salt could elevate this simple dessert to new heights. And if you really want to impress your guests, consider creating a s’mores dessert pizza bar where everyone can customize their own slices with a variety of toppings and chocolate options.

A sweet treat for every occasion

Whether you're hosting a holiday gathering, celebrating a special occasion, or simply treating yourself to a delicious dessert, this S'mores Dessert Pizza is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. It's easy to make, fun to assemble, and always a hit with both kids and adults. So next time you're looking for a simple yet impressive dessert, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
