Preparing this dish ahead requires careful attention to starch retrogradation and lipid oxidation during frozen storage. Unbaked coated chicken breasts freeze successfully when arranged in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet for two hours before transfer to an airtight freezer bag, preventing the melted butter and crushed cereal from compressing into a dense, soggy paste.
