Step-by-step

  • Brown the meat. Then add all of the seasonings (taco mix etc.,)
  • Add the bell pepper, onions, and cilantro. ( i added mine last cause i wanted my veggies to have a bite, on the pizza)
  • Add the pizza sauce *OPTIONAL*

Standard Italian pies rely on raw sausage or cured meats that render fat slowly in a hot oven. This spiced ground beef variation requires pre-cooking the protein on the stovetop. Skipping this step leaves excess fat pooling on top of the dough. Brown the beef thoroughly until the moisture evaporates completely before incorporating any dry spices or aromatics.

Managing Moisture in Heavy Toppings

Onions and bell peppers release substantial water during baking. Dice the onions finely and chop the green bell pepper into pieces smaller than a half-inch. Introduce these vegetables toward the very end of the browning process to retain a slight crunch without flooding the dough. If using pizza sauce, limit the application to one tablespoon distributed thinly, preventing the crust from becoming waterlogged. Maintain an oven temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure the base bakes through before the toppings overcook.

  • Drain excess grease from the skillet if the beef exceeds 15 percent fat content.
  • Substitute ground turkey at a one-to-one ratio, but add one extra tablespoon of oil to compensate for lower natural fat.
  • Bake the assembly on a preheated pizza stone for 12 to 15 minutes to guarantee a crisp bottom crust.
