Step-by-step

  • In a large bowl mix hamburger, onions, jalapeno peppers, salsa salt, and taco seasoning.
  • Make into patties.
  • When patties are done put pepper jack cheese on patties.
  • Put patties on flour tortillas top hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, black olives and salsa.
  • Enjoy!!!!!!!

Salsa acts as both a flavoring agent and a moisture binder when incorporated directly into ground beef patties, but it requires careful handling to prevent the meat from falling apart on the grill grate. Blending high-moisture condiments into raw protein demands specific preparation adjustments to ensure structural integrity and even cooking.

  • Form patties with a slight depression in the center using your thumb, preventing them from puffing into spherical shapes as the proteins tighten under heat.
  • Cook patties over medium-high heat for approximately 4 to 5 minutes per side, targeting an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit for food safety.
  • Substitute corn tortillas for flour tortillas in a 1:1 ratio if you need a gluten-free wrapper, though warming them on a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side prevents tearing.
  • Store leftover cooked patties separately from fresh vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator.
  • Reheat refrigerated patties in a covered skillet over medium-low heat with a tablespoon of water added to restore moisture within 6 to 8 minutes.

Freezing uncooked patties interleaved with squares of parchment paper allows for up to two months of storage without freezer burn. Thaw frozen patties completely in the refrigerator for 24 hours before cooking to guarantee even heat penetration.
